Classwork: Theory of Stardom
Classwork: Persona + Brand
In this blog, we will discuss what branding means and how we construct our artist's persona and brand identity. This blgopost was made by my teammate Kristine and the task was also made by Lamiya
Branding
Brand image is the general impression, perception, and associations any given customer has about a brand.
It is a consistent message given out by a brand that is recognisable by the consumer.
Branding should not be an afterthought. Your brand message should be the first thing you consider.
A brand image can evolve organically over time or companies can perform or rebrand to take their company in a new direction. This is important to our project because it helps shape our artists persona and identity. When all elements of the production match the same style and vibe, the audience easily understands who the artist is. It makes the artist more recognisable, memorable, and consistent, instead of looking random or unplanned.
Artist Brand Image
Music Artists also have a brand image.
A message that is consistent across their public appearances, music videos, social media posts and even their album covers.
This gives the audience a look into their
- Personality
- Music
- Values
- Style
- etc
Heres an example from my teachers slides
For our task, my group created our own persona and brand identity for our artist using a mind map. This helped us or our ideas clearly, understand the artist's style, and make sure all elements of our production state consistent.
Reflection:
Due to me being sick and not attending class/school, I wasn't able to participate as much on this task though I did understand the task and was able to participate at the start, as we began it in the previous lesson when I still attended class. In the future I will learn to initiate to help and contribute my part as much as possible regardless of my absence.

Behind The Scenes
Here is our Behind the Scenes for our Music Video
Filming Schedule
Heres the Filming Schedule for our project
Scene | Events | Time/Date | Location | People | Props | Other |
1 | Scenes of both male and female lead fighting and doing couple activities. | No Confirmation | Lamiya’s House |
|
| It might rain, so we need umbrellas if we want to shoot outside, but mostly the scenes are taken inside. |
2 | Scenes of both male and female lead doing couple activities and the male running scene. | No Confirmation | Uluwatu Beach |
|
| Since it's an outdoor scene there's a high chance rain will ruin it, so we need to incorporate rain as a MES. Make sure to bring umbrellas |
3 | Scenes of the female lead dining with the new partner as the male lead is watching them. | No Confirmation | Cosmic Diner |
|
| Ask for permission to film inside and make sure that guests are aware and won't be disturbed by our filming. |
4 | Scenes of the female lead in her room. | No Confirmation | Kristine’s Room |
|
| Alert family members to stay out of the room or make any loud noises. |
5 | Scenes of both male and female lead doing couple activities. | No Confirmation | Shooters |
|
| Ask for permission to film if it's crowded and make sure clips are good because it's too far and we can't risk going back to retake. |
Reflection:
We were not able to finish the filming schedule with set dates due to vague discussions and a lack of preparation, as well as weaknesses in communication, consideration, and effort. We could not set filming dates because there was not enough discussion, and since each of us had our own schedules, plans and commitments already being set during the holidays. Therefore the lack of planning made things more confusing. Without proper discussion, we were unsure what to plan, do or write, which resulted in the filming not being completed (conducted), meaning the filming schedule being left undone and not updated. Basically, because the issue was left unaddressed and not discussed further, the task was gradually procrastinated and eventually not completed at all, as we brushed it off and did not take it as seriously as we should have. Additionally, we had also lacked communication and discussion with our actors as well, as their personal schedules also needed to be considered. We also couldn't organise enough people on time to help on set, such as support for lighting, wardrobe, and general assistance. Overall, this reflects the unprofessional and irresponsible part/side of our actions and shows how we could have managed our time more wisely during the holidays to at least film some scenes or clips to work towards our ideal goal. In the future, we will prioritise this more and take the project more seriously to ensure it is done properly.

Location Scout & Risk Assessment
Here is our group's Location Scout & Risk Assessment
Lamiya’s House | |
Location Link: | |
Events in scene: | We will record scenes of the characters where they are fighting, having fun, some single shots of them and when they were in love. Specific locations:
|
Pros of location: |
|
Cons of location: |
|
Alternatives: | Someone else’ house (?) |
Risk Assessment | |
Potential hazards: | Potential risk of being uncomfortable while filming since the house is still under construction. There is also the potential for us to get sick due to the rainy season. |
Evaluate risks: | There are other people that may be in the house getting disturbed by us filming. |
Control measures: | We have to ask for permission and have them notified that we are filming so we both respect each other. |
Responsibility: | Someone has to supervise when they have nothing to do. They also have to help ask for permission so people in the house are alerted. |
Time frame: | Every time we film we will have people in charge to make sure nothing gets in frame to not cause failed shots to not waste time. |
Other notes: | |
Tanah Barak Beach (Uluwatu) | |
Location Link: | |
Events in scene: | Running Scene, Love moments, sunset seasons |
Pros of location: |
|
Cons of location: |
|
Alternatives: | Legian Beach |
Risk Assessment | |
Potential hazards: |
|
Evaluate risks: |
|
Control measures: | We will consider an alternative location for when weather gets bad during that day, and we will be extra careful when getting from one place to another considering the unstable paths |
Responsibility: | Team members and (possibly other crew) |
Time frame: | Ready in advance (before set) |
Other notes: | |
Shooters Bali | |
Location Link: | |
Events in scene: | Photobooth scene |
Pros of location: |
|
Cons of location: |
|
Alternatives: | Living world/ icon mall photobooths, timezone |
Risk Assessment | |
Potential hazards: |
|
Evaluate risks: |
|
Control measures: |
|
Responsibility: | Whoever isn't in charge of filming. |
Time frame: | When we get on set or before our way on set. |
Other notes: | |
Cosmic Diner | |
Location Link: | |
Events in scene: | The ending scene where she's on a date with another guy and when he is running to find her |
Pros of location: |
|
Cons of location: |
|
Alternatives: | Lulu Bistrot, Monsieur Spoon, Shooters |
Risk Assessment | |
Potential hazards: | It's very small so setting up the perfect set to film may be too cramped and we might have to move existing furniture. |
Evaluate risks: | We might damage properties by accident if we were to move furniture to set our filming layout. We also may distract existing customers if there are any. |
Control measures: | We will firstly ask for permission to move the furniture and make sure someone is in charge of keeping an eye out to respect the location's environment. We make sure we aren't too disturbing and we will have to apologize to them. |
Responsibility: | Anyone who isn't doing any work in filming or an extra hand if we invited someone to help. |
Time frame: | Before filming or when we are on set. |
Other notes: | |
Teras Ayung Residence | |
Location Link: | |
Events in scene: | Opening car scene |
Pros of location: |
|
Cons of location: |
|
Alternatives: | Kuta Palace Residence, Random Street, Sekar Jepun/Tunjung |
Risk Assessment | |
Potential hazards: | Might be disturbing to residents since we are filming in a private personal space. |
Evaluate risks: | We might receive complaints on our disturbing actions as we are using someone else’ neighbourhood (not our own = harder to face complaints). |
Control measures: | We will be sure to not yell/scream too loudly and focus on getting our shots done as soon as possible with limited retakes while also not blocking ways to anyone’s houses so we will not disturb anyone’s personal space. |
Responsibility: | Our team + helping crew (or someone we know that lives there). |
Time frame: | Right before set. |
